This season, Miya Hisaka Silva premieres L’Amistad, a poetic contemporary ensemble piece about the unconditional love found through friendship. The Company also brings back to the stage: Pajaros Pintados, Francisco Castillo’s high energy, soaring, indigenous full company opener reflecting the natural beauty of El Salvador; Adrian Bolton’s romantic duet created to the music of Luther Vandross; and the classical women’s trio, Concierto, choreographed by Salvadoran ballet virtuoso Eduardo Rogel. To complete the program, Rivera and Castillo present Retazos de Vida, their high voltage indigenous finale piece; as well as the Juan Carlos Rincones and Hisaka Silva’s breathtaking signature piece, Y Ahora La Esperanza, created to the music of Ennio Morricone and Sting, dedicated to the 80,000 lost Salvadorans during the 12-year civil war.

“Without question, one of the finest group of artists presented by the Dance Place. No matter the material, the Company was hypnotic, astoundingly professional, dramatic detail, performing with great purity, energy, elegance, sensuality, focus and undeniable passion.”

“After 10 years of dark light the sun is reborn for Salvadoran dance. Our dance is growing up in the bodies of our young dancers who are working hard to open new doors …and through the will of an exceptional woman.”
